South Korea court sentences highest-ranking police officer yet to jail over Halloween crush

A South Korean court has sentenced the highest-ranking police officer yet to jail over a 2014 Halloween party crush that left 16 people dead and 11 injured. The police officer was convicted for negligence in his duty as he failed to properly oversee the event’s safety measures, leading to the fatal stampede. The court ruled that his lack of appropriate action and oversight significantly contributed to the tragic incident.
