Justice Sonia Sotomayor, an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, has found a unique side project amidst her busy schedule: a children’s musical. Despite her hectic term at the Supreme Court, Justice Sotomayor has managed to participate in the creation and promotion of this musical.
The musical, called “Just Ask!”, is based on Sotomayor’s book of the same name. The book and musical send a strong message about the value of different abilities and encourages children to ask questions about differences, fostering curiosity and understanding. Justice Sotomayor, being a diabetic since childhood, intended to use this project to help children interact with those who are “differently abled”.
This isn’t the first time Justice Sotomayor ventured into children’s literature. Prior to this, she has authored several other books aimed at a younger audience, all with a motive to inspire and educate children about the importance of understanding and the power of dreaming big.
Despite her demanding job, she has successfully carried out her passion for making a difference beyond her legal capacity. She used her own life experiences as source material for her work, sharing her wisdom and strength with younger generations.
